The koto is a traditional Japanese instrument, often referred to as the “Japonese horizontal harp.” It has thirteen strings and is made from the wood of the Japanese paulownia tree. Its sound is said to portray the natural beauty of Japan.
The Bright Gem Koto ensemble has performed around the world, in Japan, Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and New York. They have also performed locally on the Central Coast in Santa Maria, Cambria, Ojai, and San Luis Obispo.
Thanks to Tatsuko Radke and Libbie Agran for arranging this special performance and to the King David’s Masonic Lodge No. 209 for the use of their beautiful and historic lodge.
