Museums 101: Administration – POSTPONED
Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:00 am - 4:05 pm
POSTPONED UNTIL FALL
Whether you’re just getting started in museums and historical societies, or you’ve been working in the field for years, the three-part Museums 101 class is a great way to catch up on the latest thinking in museum theory. It’s also a core requirement for the History Center’s Museum Studies Certificate.
In Museums 101: Administration, we’ll explore museum missions, ethics, policy & planning, board development, fundraising, technology, and much more. You’ll go away with a better understanding of current standards and best practices, plus a practical list of tools and resources to help you meet them realistically.
Instructor Stacey Potts holds an MA in museums and has served on the History Center board. Instructor Eva Ulz has worked in museums for two decades, currently as curator of the History Center.
About the SLO Museums Institute
As part of the San Luis Obispo County History Network, we’ve assembled experts from around the county and beyond to share practical information about running our organizations, educating the public, and preserving our collections. You can even collect credit for attending each class and earn a certificate in Museum Studies.
SLO Museums Institute Certificate
The History Center issues credit for each class you attend through the micro-credentialing site Credly.com (you must register in order to collect your credits). Attend 9 credit classes, including all three Museums 101 classes, and earn a History Center Museum Studies certificate.
