SLO Museums Institute: Displaying Historic Clothing

Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Historic clothing and textiles are among the most fascinating, and also the most fragile, parts of many museum collections. Displaying them safely and in a way that communicates their unique stories to visitors is an art in and of itself. This workshop will present a hands-on introduction to the process of evaluating, preparing, and dressing historic clothes for an exhibition.

Instructor Eva Ulz is the curator and director of the History Center of San Luis Obispo County. She is currently preparing a new exhibition featuring a hundred years of local fashion at the History Center Museum.

$25, $15 History Center Members. RSVP to alicia@historycenterslo.org.

This workshop is part of the SLO Museums Institute. Participants will earn an elective credit towards their SLO Museum Studies certificate.
