Museum Tours

Come and Stay a while!

The History Center of San Luis Obispo County is committed to providing educational tours to schools and tour groups. We would like to extend an invitation to all teachers, schools and tour operators to visit our two locations: the Museum and the Dallidet Adobe & Gardens. Group tours are available at both sites by appointment and all tours are offered free of charge. Reservations are required for school tour groups, and we suggest booking your tour at least one month in advance.

The History Center Museum is located in the charming and historic Carnegie Library Building at 696 Monterey Street, across Broad Street from the celebrated Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 am to 4 pm or by appointment. The Museum houses two galleries highlighting stories from the county’s past, a gift shop, and a “Kid’s Room” which has child friendly activities and displays that correspond to the exhibits. We have docents available to provide guided tours of the exhibits. They will lead your group through the history of the building and our current exhibits. However, self-guided tours are also allowed.
